SIDA
It is a drop
of immunity by the reduction of the organic defenses
which leads to death by certain forms of cancer or
infections.
The disease
is attributed to the Human Immunodeficiency Virus.
Initially observed in homosexuals, injected drugs
abusers, hemophylics, haitians, africans and those
who have a need for frequent blood transfusions.
Nowadays many people consider that the disease is
heterosexually transmitted, thus trying to eliminate
risk groups.
The
symptomatology is diverse and reveals itself through
signs of an organic defense diminution, with
frequent infections caused by bacteria and fungus,
fever, diarrhea, polyadenopathy, loss of weight,
anemia, asthenia, etc., being Moniliasis, pneumonia
caused by Pneumocystis carinii, and the
Kaposi Sarcoma, the most frequent complications.
It is
estimated that more than 50 % of the patients with
confirmed diagnosis have already died.
There is no
effective treatment up to date. Many drugs have been
tested, all of them with relative results.
The only way
to combat SIDA is the prophylaxy, abstaining from
sexual intercourse or using protection (condom).
